The Whale Shark - largest fish on earth - incredible!!!

Generally growing to 15.2 metres lng (50ft) the Whale Shark (Rhincodon typus) is the largest of all sharks and in fact the largest fish in the oceans today.  Some Whale Sharks however have been recorded at 18 metres long thats a huge 60 ft in length.  Looking at this shark you may feel that it is a monster and highly dangerous but it is not at all dangerous to human beings.

Amazingly the Whale Shark feeds on plankton as well as small fish only.  By opening its mouth this huge fish filters these tiny organisms through its huge gills.  It can be found in all tropical waters, and mostly stays on the surfac.Very little is know about its breeding habits.
